Sunset over Jasper, Alberta, 2 September 2002.
The snowy mountain at left is Mount Edith Cavell; just to its right, with a bit less snow, is Aquila Mountain, and the brown hump on its right, Marmot Mountain.

The afternoon sun is on the mountains Roche a Bosche and Roche Ronde in the far distance across Jasper Lake. Bleached driftwood has been washed up on this lovely sandy beach. The tourists do not stop to look here; they zip by at 70 km/hr with nary a side glance.

A young bull elk near Jasper, Alberta. Just to prove we saw one. He's pretty tame, and is thinking strongly about mooching some grub at the campground over across the road with the grownups.

Patricia Lake, just up the hill from Jasper Townsite, early in the morning. It's rained all night; the sky is threatening to clear in the northwest, but it will be an empty threat..

Raindrops cling to the needles of a pine tree at the shore of Pyramid Lake after a night's rain. The forests on the flanks of Pyramid Mountan majestically exude vapor, for the ground is still warm from summer.

The Palisades, from Highway 16 east of Jasper. They seem to be made of limestone, by the color ot them. This is also the color of the glacial rivers, from all the rock flour suspended in them.
