Functions of Sensation
- Status is not detected
- Acceleration (change of status) is detected
- Sense organs have thresholds
- Sub-threshold changes are important in creating perceptual illusions
- Accurate perception of status requires integrating information from several sense organs: eyes, vestibules, hinder, joints, muscles, skin.
- Deficient information (deprivation or degradation) leads to unperceived error.
- Contradictory information leads to confusion, suppression, or correction.
