Oculogravic Illusions oculos = eye
- When a Somatogravic Illusion occurs, the brain interprets visual sensations incorrectly, modifying its interpretation of movement based on the sense of up or down acceleration
- The body uses vestibular sensations to "lead" vision (we need to "look ahead")
- This causes us to "see" what the seat of our pants says is coming, and delays recognition of the vestibular illusion.
- When we slow, we "see" the nose pitch down
- When we are lifted, we "see" the nose pitch up.
